2018 was the year I took my photography more seriously. I’ve enjoyed taking pictures for years but I decided last year to setup a website specifically for my photography and with it a new Instagram account as well which was all about the photo’s I take around Scotland. Why the change in focus? I love the hobby whether it’s the gear I buy or the processing of the images at the end of it but more importantly it gets me out and about to new places around Scotland and thats the bit I enjoy the most. It’s also a hobby in which I’m constantly learning which is no bad thing either.
The best nine from Instagram (above) in 2018 are a good representation of the last 6 months. A few early start’s and late finishes to get those golden hour shots but it was worth it. I also avoided the camera upgrade game that I tend to play every two years and spent that money on some Lee filters and also changing the drone. Twice. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro is an amazing bit of kit and was too good to miss.
2019 will hopefully see me take advantage of the full year to get out and enjoy the landscapes of Scotland rather than the first and last months of the year that I’ve done in the past. The main thing will be to enjoy the views, learn more about photography and not to get bogged down worrying about likes and fav’s.
